Painting is for me just as much about 'looking' as understanding how others look at things...
I've been painting since 2016 when I decided to take up oil painting as a result of looking out of the same window one time too many. I suddenly saw lines and shapes where before there was only a forest and after a few trial sketches with a pen I realised; I had to create that painting! At that time I had no real experience of painting, oil colours, easels, canvases, etc - so I hade to learn in order to capture the alluring view. From there it's been a journey from one painting to the next, never quite knowing where the path will lead, and still no clue as to where it might take me.
I prefer working in the studio, although I enjoy and learn from plein air as well. Still, in the studio there are less distractions, no wind, no bugs, no uneven ground and it's quit enough to enjoy high quality music. In the studio cleaning up is also much easier and as a bonus, I'm home when I'm done! (As my studio is really just one half of our garage).
